How do I connect the app to my Amipi retailer account?
After installing the app on your Shopify store, open Apps → Amipi Diamonds → Settings. Enter your Amipi Retailer ID (provided by your Amipi account manager) and click Connect. The app will validate the ID against the Amipi API and store the connection.
Where do customers see diamonds on my storefront?
The app exposes a search page at https://your-store.myshopify.com/apps/diamonds via Shopify App Proxy. You can link to it from your menus, homepage banner, or footer. It renders inside your storefront theme.
What happens when a customer adds a diamond to cart?
The app lazily creates (or reuses) a Shopify product and variant for that diamond at your retailer's configured price, then adds it to the customer's cart using Shopify's native cart API. From that point on it's a normal Shopify order — payments, taxes, and shipping are handled by your Shopify checkout settings.
Are diamond prices live?
Yes. Every search and detail page calls the Amipi API in real time and applies your retailer's pricing tier (cert level) and markup. The app never caches prices in your Shopify store; the variant price is only created at the moment of Add to Cart.
Can I filter the diamonds shown to customers?
Yes. The search page lets customers filter by Shape, Color, Clarity, Cut, Polish, Symmetry, Fluorescence, Lab, Total Price, Carat, and Price / Carat. Grid and List views are both supported.
How do I uninstall the app?
From the Shopify admin: Settings → Apps and sales channels → Amipi Diamonds → Uninstall app. On uninstall, Shopify sends a webhook to the app and the shop's session and retailer connection are deleted from our database. Diamond products that were created during cart events remain in your Shopify store (you can remove them manually if desired).
Which Shopify permissions does the app request?
read_products, write_products, read_inventory, write_inventory, read_orders, read_publications, write_publications. Products and publications are needed to lazily create + publish a Shopify variant for each diamond added to cart. Orders are read-only.
What if a customer can't add a diamond to cart?
If you see a "Cannot find variant" error, the product publishing step may have failed. Re-open the app in admin once to ensure the access token is fresh, then retry. If it persists, contact support@amipi.com with the diamond Lot # and timestamp.
Does the app work on development stores?
Yes. The app installs on both development and production Shopify stores. Development stores have a storefront password by default; enter it once and the proxy page becomes accessible.
